At Past 2 Present Counselling & Psychotherapy, we are dedicated to providing a non-judgemental, supportive, and empowering environment for individuals seeking positive change in their personal or professional lives. Based in beautiful Cornwall, England, UK, we work with a range of clients, each with very different needs. We offer international counselling and psychotherapy sessions to individuals; this is our online service, covering the UK and Europe.

How we work?

Predominantly our core way of working is person centred, devised and developed by Carl Rogers, it is a humanistic branch of psychology which can easily be integrated with several other counselling modalities, enabling experienced therapists to explore the most effective counselling needs for our clients.

As integrative/person centred therapists we work to your individual preferences in a collaborative way with YOU.

We work in a safe, affirming, nonjudgemental, compassionate space working within the realms of person centred practice, and it’s core conditions, which hold you with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence, these values underpin all forms of therapy offered and hold your experiences together.

Person centred work believes you are the expert of yourself, and so, our therapists will talk about what it is you would like to get out of counselling and look at ways we can do this; the approaches and methods used will be purely unique to each individual, as one size does not fit all.

During therapy our therapists will often ask permission to integrate techniques from other approaches, this could include things like the exploration of mindfulness techniques, breathing and finding inner calm and exploring other modalities such as Gestalt.

Every single session can be extraordinarily effective and transformational.

We are passionate about the value of a non-judgemental space to work together in
as a way that allows our Clients to explore and understand their debilitating, sub-conscious thoughts and feelings, which leads to unwanted behaviours, thoughts and feelings.

We use several integrative modalities, the core of our work is Person centred Rogerian theory, Gestalt, CBT, REBT and Psychodynamic.
We have an introductory session where we discuss some of the reasons you have come to therapy and look how therapy might be useful for you. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you have about counselling and psychotherapy.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with emotional issues, or simply need someone to talk to, counselling can be beneficial. It’s a proactive step towards understanding and managing your feelings and improving your overall well-being.
There are so many approaches in therapy, humanistic, integrative and psychodynamic. Feeling comfortable with your therapist is the most important aspect of any journey and its ok if you don’t feel comfortable with someone, its natural and we encourage you to express how you feel. You may not have decided whether you want therapy on the telephone, in person or online, Past 2 Present Counselling are flexible you can try all.
The first session is an opportunity to discuss what brought you to counselling, go through our contract, and set goals. It’s a 45-minute session designed to help you and your therapist assess fit and discuss how to proceed.
Standard sessions last 45 to 60 minutes. However, the duration can vary based on the type of counselling and the specific needs of the client.
Progress is different for all our Clients, there is no prediction on timescales, however, we talk about realistic expectations.
You can end therapy whenever you feel, we ask that we are given notice and the door or all our Clients is always open.
Yes, online and telephone sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions. They offer flexibility and convenience while maintaining the quality and confidentiality of the counselling experience.
